1. Purpose
This policy sets out The Royal Yacht Hotel’s commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our operations and supply chains. We support the principles of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and uphold all relevant legislation in the Channel Islands, including Jersey’s Employment (Jersey) Law 2003, Human Rights (Jersey) Law 2000, and associated codes of practice.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All hotel employees, contractors, and agency staff.
- All suppliers, service providers, and business partners.
- Any other third parties working on behalf of The Royal Yacht Hotel.
3. Our Commitment
We are committed to:
- Ensuring that there is no modern slavery, forced labour, or human trafficking within our business or our supply chains.
- Conducting all business dealings ethically and transparently.
- Promoting fair working conditions, freedom of movement, and the rights of workers.
4. Due Diligence and Supply Chain Management
We will:
- Carry out risk assessments on new and existing suppliers.
- Include clauses on modern slavery in our supplier contracts.
- Require suppliers to confirm compliance with applicable labour laws and ethical practices.
- Investigate and act upon any suspected cases of modern slavery.
5. Training and Awareness
We provide:
- Training to HR, management, and relevant departments on identifying and reporting concerns.
- Induction guidance for new staff on workers’ rights and reporting channels.
6. Reporting and Escalation
All employees and stakeholders are encouraged to report any concerns regarding modern slavery or unethical practices. Reports can be made in confidence to:
- A manager or the HR department.
- Via our internal grievance procedure.
- Through our anonymous whistleblowing policy.
- Reports will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately.
7. Responsibility and Review
The General Manager has overall responsibility for this policy, with day-to-day implementation by the HR and Operations teams. This policy is reviewed annually or upon significant legal or operational changes.
