Following the incredible success of our 1970s Throwback Menu, The Grill at The Royal Yacht is taking a bold step into the next iconic dining decade—welcome to the 1980s!

 

 

Starting Monday 10th February, we invite you to Lunch Like It’s 1980 with a menu that revives some of the era’s most beloved dishes. Think power lunches, indulgent flavours, and retro classics that once defined the ultimate midday meal…

 

Served Monday to Friday, 12-2:30 PM, this is your chance to experience the nostalgia, the flavours, and the fun of the 80s in the heart of St. Helier.

 

What’s on the Menu?

Starters – From the ever-iconic Prawn Cocktail to hearty French Onion Soup, these dishes are a true throwback to the golden age of dining.
Mains – Relish the comforting flavours of Bangers & Mash, savour a crispy Chicken Schnitzel, or indulge in a Sirloin Steak Diane—a true 80s classic!
Desserts – No 80s meal is complete without a decadent Tiramisu or delicate Profiteroles.

Throwback Menus

The Grill at The Royal Yacht Invites Guests to a Culinary Time Machine with Throwback Menus

 

This winter, The Grill is turning back the clock and celebrating the flavours of the past with a unique dining experience: Throwback Menus. Running from January through March 2025, this series will feature specially curated menus that spotlight iconic dishes from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Each month will transport diners to a different decade, offering a nostalgic culinary journey through time.

The Royal Yacht, a historic landmark in Jersey’s hospitality scene, has been serving guests for centuries. With this campaign, The Grill pays homage to its rich history and the golden eras of dining. “We wanted to bring back not only the flavours but also the spirit of these decades,” says Claudio Abreu, Operations Manager at The Royal Yacht. “From the sophisticated 70s to the indulgent 80s and the global fusion trends of the 90s, each menu has been thoughtfully designed to evoke memories and delight our guests.”

 

 

 

Kicking things off in January is the 1970s. We invite guests to lunch like it’s 1975! The menus will be available at lunchtime, Monday to Friday between 12 and 2.30pm (last orders).

New Menu in The Grill

The Grill will be re-opening on Tuesday 27th September with a brand new kitchen and exciting new menu

 

When asked what his favourite new dishes are, Executive Chef, Inaka Weerasinghe said “we know there is a lot of demands for classics such as Steak au Poivre and Lobster Thermidore so I think our guests will be delighted to see those on the menu. We are also looking forward to introducing more sharing steaks and will be adding some special meat cuts in the near future
 
Inaka is also a fan of the swordfish – “this is a really lovely grilled fish and I think this will be a popular option on our new menu”

New Zephyr Menu

We are very excited to be launching a new menu in Cafe Zephyr

From the 14th May you will see a variety of new dishes on our menus in Cafe Zephyr. Head Chef, Inaka and the team have been working hard to come up with some very tasty new flavours and plates for our extremely popular Cafe Zephyr.
